October Half-Term is Tudor Living History at Corfe Castle
This October half-term, travel back to 1572 for fun and festivities at Corfe Castle. Join Mistress Gabrielle the kitchen maid and Thomas the Master Carver as they prepare for a feast in honour of Sir Christopher Hatton.
Throughout the October half-term there will be a Tudor food display alongside the Tudor cutler display. From expensive spices to highly decorated sweet treats, Mistress Gabrielle talks (or one might say gossips!) about the foods arriving from the New World that would have been a stunning sight at Corfe Castle at the time. Thomas the master carver will be nearby with displays and demonstrations of methods of making and upkeep of cutlery traditional to the era.
Join in as Gabrielle the kitchen maid and Thomas the master carver prepare to serve a Tudor meal. There will be fun and frivolity as you dine and discover what the ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ of Tudor table manners are. Thomas the master carver teaches what’s involved in the making of cutlery during the Tudor period and their importance for day to day life. Will you catch the two gossiping about the household of Sir Christopher Hatton?
