Roads to Rail Steam Rally 2026

The much‑loved Roads to Rail Steam Rally returns from 26 to 28 June 2026 for its sixth year, bringing a spectacular celebration of steam engines, vintage vehicles, live music and family entertainment, with an important change to improve the experience for everyone.

For 2026, the organisers have relocated the event field to the larger area previously used as the car park near Norden Station. The change has been made to offer more space, easier access and a safer environment for visitors and exhibitors alike.

The organisers explain that they are always looking for ways to improve the event and that, this year, a major step has been taken by swapping the rally field with the car park. The new field provides more room to spread out, better ground conditions and makes it easier for everyone to move around safely and comfortably.

The new layout also offers improved viewing areas and better traffic flow, making it easier for vintage vehicles and machinery to operate and for families to explore the exhibits.

Event highlights include:

• A stunning display of full‑size and miniature steam engines
• Tractors, stationary engines and commercial vehicles
• Classic cars, motorcycles and military vehicles
• Steam train rides on the Swanage Railway
• Traditional funfair, food stalls and real ale bar
• Live music throughout the weekend
• Family activities including alpacas and circus skills

Set against the scenic backdrop of the Isle of Purbeck, Roads to Rail is a unique event that combines the charm of a heritage railway with the excitement of a steam rally, making it ideal for enthusiasts, families and visitors of all ages.

Showground tickets start from £15, with children and dogs admitted free of charge. Combined showground and train tickets are also available from £35.
