Coronation Weekend at Corfe Castle

Corfe Castle will be celebrating the Coronation of His Majesty The King on Saturday 6^th May, 2023 with other events taking places over the weekend and Bank Holiday Monday.

Saturday 6th May 2023 — Live Screening 10am to 2.30pm

The Coronation Ceremony takes place at Westminster Abbey, London and will be screened live at the School Hall and Village Hall — entry to both venues is Free and will be on a first come first serve basis.

Sunday 7th May 2023 — The Coronation Big Lunch 10am to 3pm

With permission from the National Trust, the Coronation Big Lunch will be held in the castle grounds.
Please note, the Big Lunch is for parishioners and their families only and the castle will be closed to all other visitors for the day.

Live music will begin at 10am and will run all day with two bands, Celtic Confusion until 12:30 and The Blue Chords (50s, 60s, 70s blues, rock and country) until 3pm.

Corfe Castle PTFA and the National Trust have offered to provide a variety of children’s games and a competitive parish tug of war!

Also for the children, there will be a face painter and a balloon twister!
You are invited to bring your own picnic although hot pork rolls and pizzas will be available from the local producer, The Spotted Pig.

Please note there is no water on site so bring enough for the day or refill in the village.

Please note, the community event is for parishioners only and entry will only be possible with a ticket.

Tickets are free and available from The Village Stores, The Sweet Shop, the Village Bakery and the School. Tickets will allow access for up to 6 people so for larger families, please request 2 tickets.

Free parking all day in the West Street Car Park.

The Coronation Big Lunch
Neighbours and communities across the United Kingdom are invited to share food and fun together at Coronation Big Lunches on Sunday 7th May 2023, in a nationwide act of celebration and friendship. From a cup of tea with a neighbour to a street party, a Coronation Big Lunch brings the celebrations to your neighbourhood and is a great way to get to know your community a little better. Get involved and join you local Coronation Event, or organise your own.

A free day for people in the village to organise their own street or other celebrations.

The Big Help Out
The Big Help Out will be held on Monday, 8th May 2023 and is being organised by The Together Coalition and a wide range of partners such as The Scouts, the Royal Voluntary Service and faith groups from across the United Kingdom. The Big Help Out will highlight the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the nation.

Scarecrow Competition
“Fit for a King” is the theme for the Corfe Castle PTFA scarecrow competition. The scarecrows can be displayed all around the village in locations that are visible from the pavement and that do not require access onto your property. Any scarecrow that lives outside the village can come along and be displayed at the school.
