The true story of a British whistleblower who leaked information to the press about an illegal NSA spy operation designed to push the UN Security Council into sanctioning the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

At its heart this film is the extraordinary story of Katharine Gun, a young translator who, back in early 2003, was engaged in top-secret monitoring work at GCHQ in Cheltenham. One day, in the lead up to the Iraq War, Gun receives a memo from the NSA with a shocking directive: the United States is enlisting Britain’s help in collecting compromising information on U.N. Security Council members to blackmail them into voting in favour of an invasion of Iraq. Unable to stand by and watch the world be rushed into war, Gun makes the gut-wrenching decision to defy her government and leak the memo to the press.

This important story has been powerfully retold, and retold exceptionally well.
