Community News: Carole and Terry Birnie are leaving the Corfe Castle Village Stores after 9 years, and Carl and Sarah are taking over.

Corfe Castle Parish Council are objecting to the Sandbanks Ferry Company’s proposal to increase charges beyond the agreed levels. The Parish will also be carrying out a consultation on various highway issues around the parish. Residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for more information next month. The Church Knowle Parish Council discussed flooding issues, vacancies on the council, and the Neighbourhood Plan consultation. Dorset Council is applying a 100% council tax premium on long-term empty houses and second homes starting in 2025.

The Corfe Castle Surgery is reminding patients about the morning sit-and-wait clinic for urgent issues, and the Patient Participation Group is hosting a talk on aneurysms.

The Corfe Community Kitchen is holding another Soup ‘n Pud community lunch event, and the Aquarius Ladies Group is having their annual Spring Fayre.

The Corfe Castle Club is hosting various events like a quiz night, beer festival, and regular activities like bingo and poker.

The Corfe Castle Village Hall has regular events like coffee mornings, Pilates, and youth club, and is planning a tombola for the May Fair.

The Corfe Castle Community Library is holding a charity quiz night and changing their “Friends of the Library” subscription model.

The Purbeck Art Weeks Festival is announcing their concert lineup and other events for 2024.
